Who can come to Assembly?

Everyone is welcome to Assembly 2019! We hope you and your congregation will consider attending as we celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Anglican Church in North America! The whole event is open to registered attendees.

 

What is Assembly?

Assembly is primarily a ministry conference that also includes a short business meeting for elected delegates. Most attendees will start the conference with dinner on Monday followed by the Opening Eucharist. The business meeting on Monday afternoon (3-5pm) is open to all, though only the elected delegates from each diocese may vote.

 

What does the Assembly Business Meeting do?

The business meeting agenda is narrow in scope, dealing with proposed changes to the constitution and canons of the Anglican Church in North America. When should I arrive?

Assembly Attendees: Most attendees will want to arrive midday on Monday.  That will give you time before dinner to get into your hotel, and then come over to the convention center to check in at the Assembly registration table to collect your badge, complimentary catechism, and prayer book.

Assembly Delegates: Elected delegates to the Assembly and/or Provincial Council should consider coming earlier.  Elected Assembly Delegates need to be at the Frisco Convention Center at 2:30pm in order to be seated and ready for the 3:00pm business meeting.

Provincial Council Delegates: Provincial Council delegates need to arrive at the Frisco Convention Center at 8am on Monday in order to be seated and ready for the 8:30am meeting.  This means that most Provincial Council delegates will need to arrive Sunday evening (June 16).

College of Bishops: Members of the College of Bishops have meetings prior to the Assembly. Those meetings begin with dinner the evening of Thursday, June 13th.  Arriving midday on June 13th is recommended for bishops.

 

What should I pack for my trip to Frisco/Plano, TX?

  • A passport is required for those traveling into the United States.
  • The average high temperature in Frisco/Plano Texas is hot (92f/33c).  Although it will be quite warm, the air conditioning in convention centers can be chilly at times, so please keep that in mind.
  • Attendee dress is casual.
  • Meeting Delegate dress code – clerical or business attire.
  • Meeting Delegates should bring a laptop or tablet (Meeting materials will be electronic.)

 

When is registration check in?

Registration check in for Provincial Council delegates will begin at 3 pm on Sunday, June 16th  at the Convention Center foyer.

Registration for Assembly will start on Monday, June 17th, at 10 am in the convention center foyer. Lunch on Monday is not included for Assembly participants.

 

What is the registration fee?

Early Bird (December 1, 2018 – January 15, 2019): $395

Regular (January 16,2019 – March 31, 2019): $435

Late (April 1, 2019 – June 1, 2019): $475

 

What is included in my registration fee?

For Assembly attendees:

Dinner on Monday evening the 17th at the convention center, bus transportation to Christ Church Plano and back to hotels on Monday. Lunch and dinner on Tuesday the 18th.  

For Provincial Council Attendees:

In addition to the above meals with your Assembly registration, dinner on Sunday evening, June 16th, and lunch on Monday, June 17th is included with   the Provincial Council registration.

Information for Bishops and Bishops’ wives:

All above meals plus dinner, June 13th, lunch and dinner on Friday June 14th, lunch on Saturday June 15th. More details will be e-mailed to you about your time in Plano for the Conclave and for your hotel reservations.

What is not included in my registration fee?

Hotel accommodations and transportation to the Frisco Convention Center are not included in the cost of registration.  However, special local hotel rates for Assembly can be found here and transportation information can be found here.  Breakfast is not included in registration, but it is included in most of the hotel options.

What should I plan for my departure from Assembly?

If you plan to stay  until the end of Assembly, it is advised that you do not schedule a flight before 4 pm on June 19th. Transportation is on your own.
